Norwich City on the brink of completing ‘remarkable deal’ with medical booked for ‘top talent’

Norwich City are about to make the biggest move of the transfer window so far in the Championship, as EFL Analysis exclusively reveals the Canaries are close to completing a move for Mathias Kvistgaarden.

Since Liam Manning took over at Carrow Road this summer, there has been plenty of transfer activity to give Norwich fans hope that things are heading in the right direction under the new boss.

The signings of Jacob Wright and Jakov Medic set Norwich back a few million, while the capture of free agent Harry Darling is seen as a shrewd piece of business.

Now, though, Manning has been given significant backing to land an exciting and very expensive young striker, with Mathias Kvistgaarden edging closer to completing his move to Norwich.

Mathias Kvistgaarden arrives in Norfolk ahead of Norwich City medical

For the past week, Kvistgaarden has been seen as the top target for Norwich, and EFL Analysis can now exclusively confirm that the Danish striker is in Norfolk as we speak, ready to carry out his medical.

As per information from our Chief Football Correspondent, Graeme Bailey, we are told Celtic have long admired Kvistgaarden and made several attempts to secure his signature, while French club Lens even agreed a deal for the 23-year-old, but it is Norwich who have won the battle.

The Canaries will pay just over £12m in what will be a new record signing for Norwich. Clearly, the hierarchy are throwing their support behind Manning, who is tasked with taking Norwich back to the top flight for the first time in three years.

It is thought Kvistgaarden will replace Josh Sargent at Norwich, who we are told will indeed be departing the club this summer as has long been suspected.

Discussing the magnitude of this transfer, Graeme Bailey said: “This is a remarkable deal for Norwich, to persuade him to move into the Championship is fantastic work.

“Kvistgaarden is a top talent and this is a real statement of intent from The Canaries.”

Mathias Kvistgaarden’s career so far

Mathias Kvistgaarden initially started his career with the Lyngby BK youth team, before moving on to Brondby IF in 2015.

From there, the striker has come through the ranks with Brondby to become one of the top talents in the Danish Superliga.

Kvistgaarden has now scored 47 goals in 126 games for Brondby, including a 23-goal haul in all competitions in 2024/25.

He recently made his international debut for the Denmark men’s team in June, playing 25 minutes of the friendly against Northern Ireland.
