EFL Analysis can exclusively reveal that Sheffield Wednesday striker Jamal Lowe could secure a sensational return to Portsmouth this summer.
Portsmouth’s aim in the 2024/25 Championship campaign was to consolidate their position in the second tier following promotion, doing so with a 16th-place finish.
It was a steady season for John Mousinho’s men, who had Josh Murphy’s magic to thank for dragging them towards safety, as the Englishman recorded the joint-most assists in the division (14).
Now, in the summer window, Pompey will be looking to build on the foundations laid by Mousinho in the second tier and push towards the top half, with one transfer potentially accelerating their chances.

Portsmouth are interested in re-signing Jamal Lowe
Thanks to information from our Chief Football Correspondent, Graeme Bailey, EFL Analysis understands that Sheffield Wednesday striker Jamal Lowe is of interest to Portsmouth this summer.
In his debut campaign at Hillsborough, Lowe was limited to just 12 starts under Danny Rohl but still managed five goal contributions.
The Jamaican is now in pursuit of regular first-team football as he aims to break into Steve McLaren’s Reggae Boyz squad with a World Cup just 12 months away.
EFL Analysis can confirm that Blackburn Rovers and Oxford United are ‘keen’ on Lowe, with several clubs also interested. However, a return to Fratton Park would be a ‘huge lure’ for the talented centre-forward.
What happened the last time Lowe was at Portsmouth
Lowe enjoyed a successful spell at Portsmouth after signing from Non League side Hampton & Richmond in 2016.
After Pompey suffered a fall from grace, dropping down to League Two, Lowe was part of their resurgence up from the fourth tier.
In 119 appearances for the club, he scored 29 and assisted 18 before moving on to Championship side Wigan Athletic in 2019.
The Jamaican international has since played for Swansea City, Bournemouth, Queens Park Rangers, and now Sheffield Wednesday.
But having recorded the most appearances at Portsmouth than any other club, a return to Fratton Park this summer is appealing.
Lowe is a ‘very gifted’ striker, as praised by former manager Luke Williams, and Pompey fans will be hoping he showcases his talent next season.
