Sheffield United remain on course for an immediate return to the Premier League following their 3-1 win over Coventry on Friday.
The Blades currently sit two points clear of second-placed Leeds United at the top of the Championship following the latter’s 2-2 draw with Swansea the following day.
Manager Chris Wilder has already managed Sheffield United across two separate spells in the top-flight but the club have struggled to maintain their Premier League status in the past.

Bolstering the quality of the squad ahead of potential promotion will therefore be key and Wilder has already earmarked a potential striker to sign for next season.
Sheffield United are eyeing up Norwich’s Borja Sainz
One man who looks to have caught the Blades’ eye is Norwich forward Borja Sainz, according to EFL journalist Alan Nixon.
Nixon says Sheffield Utd are hoping to bring Sainz to Bramall Lane with a £10 million bid for the winger, regardless of whether they are able to secure a Premier League return.
The Spaniard joined Norwich on a three-year deal from Turkish side Giresunspor in June 2023 and has already scored 17 goals in the Championship this season.
However, Sainz will enter the final year of his contract this summer and Sheffield Utd are hoping to tempt him away from Carrow Road.

Sainz’s numbers compared to Sheffield Utd forwards
No Championship player has scored more goals than the 17 netted by Sainz for Norwich this term.
In fact, his return is seven higher than Sheffield Utd’s highest scorer in Tyrese Campbell, who has scored 10 goals so far.
The Englishman remains the only Sheffield Utd player whose goal tally is in the double figures, which leaves them as only the sixth-highest scorers in the Championship, despite their status as leaders.
| Borja Sainz | Tyrese Campbell | Thomas Cannon | Kieffer Moore | Rhian Brewster | Ben Brereton Diaz | Ryan One |
| 17 | 10 | 9 | 5 | 4 | 3 | 1 |
Wilder’s side have averaged a mere 1.44 goals scored across their 39 matches so far and have been reliant on a watertight defence which has averaged just 0.74 goals conceded.
Still, the meagre return in front of goal remains a concern, particularly if they are able to secure promotion back to the Premier League this season.
A lack of goals was a key factor in their relegation from the top flight last term when they scored a measly 35 goals in total.
Whether or not they are able to secure Sainz’s signature remains to be seen, but his ability to find the back of the net will certainly bolster Wilder’s side in forward areas.
