Sheffield United player Gustavo Hamer has spoken out about his future this week and is looking to secure a move elsewhere in the future.

Gustavo Hamer made the move to Bramall Lane in August 2023, signing from Coventry City.

The 27-year-old has been a key figure at the club since his move, including in the current campaign when Sheffield United are pushing for promotion.

The Blades beat Sheffield Wednesday 1-0 in their last fixture before the international break, moving them level on points with Leeds United, who are hanging onto top spot via goal difference.

This comes despite the fact the Yorkshire outfit started 2024/25 with a two-point deduction.

Hamer has been one of their standout performers this season, scoring seven and assisting five while largely operating from the left.

Now, during the international break, the Dutchman has been speaking about his future.

Gustavo Hamer looking to leave Sheffield United in future for former club

Hamer is under contract with Sheffield United until 2027 and, if they continue on current form, will be playing in the Premier League next term.

It’s not the top flight where the wide-man has desires to play at some point in his career, however.

Instead, the Blades’ star is looking to link back up with former club Feyenoord.

Speaking to 1908.nl, he said: Feyenoord is still my club, and I watch every game. I think it’s a shame that they sometimes have peaks and troughs, because I see them playing against AC Milan and then they really do fantastic again.

“Only then they’re unhappy with the matches after that. I would really like to end up at Feyenoord myself. That would be really great.”

Hamer came up threw Feyenoord’s youth ranks but only ever made two senior appearances for them.

Chris Wilder has already commented on Gustavo Hamer transfer speculation

While Hamer has desires to return to the Netherlands, another team in England has previously tried to sign him.

As per Leeds Live, Daniel Farke’s Leed had a £13m bid rejected for the Sheffield United man last summer.

And in February 2025, Chris Wilder was asked about the Whites’ interest in the player.

He said: “Throughout a season there are always standout players, and he’s been our standout player.

“I’m sure there’s interest from a lot of good clubs and Leeds is a good club, a big club. We don’t want to lose our best players. We lost one in the summer, which I was disappointed about, and we need to keep our best players and invest in them. But there’s always when the time’s right and the numbers are right there has to be conversations.

“But this is not the time for that, and Gus is contributing. He’s got his head down and is fully focused. I thought his performance was outstanding on Wednesday night and he’s going to be a big player for us in the run-in.”
