Southampton are looking to rebuild their squad ahead of a potential promotion push in 2025/26 but a deal for one player is facing complications.

Tyler Dibling is likely to leave Southampton this summer, handing the Saints plenty of money to play with.

Willem Geubbels is a transfer target, but he also has interest from the likes of Sheffield United.

Manchester City’s Juma Bah is an option for the South Coast outfit but he’s another player with multiple suitors.

Meanwhile, Southampton have been linked with Lucas Cepeda recently, and a fresh update has now emerged.

Lucas Cepeda unhappy with Southampton

YeniBirlik have shared an update on the player’s future this week, with a European side in the running for his signature.

The winger, who is currently on the books of Colo-Colo, is also wanted by Turkish outfit Trabzonspor.

The latest information claims that they are going to make an offer for the Southampton target soon.

As for the Saints’ interest, their plan for Cepeda has reportedly not gone down well with the player.

They want to buy the player and then loan him to their sister club Göztepe, but this idea was ‘not welcomed warmly by the player’ nor his current team.

Lucas Cepeda comments on transfer

Cepeda commented on transfer rumours last week after claims of Southampton making a bid.

At the time, he said he would like to leave his current team, whom he has scored 13 and assisted five for in 55 matches.

He said: “I’ve seen everything that’s been said on social media [about my future].

“If it happens, it’s welcome. I would like to make the jump. I think it’s time. If [an opportunity to leave Colo-Colo] comes, it comes, and if not, I’ll keep working. Hopefully something good happens so we can achieve the dream all kids dream of, of going [abroad] to play.”
