West Brom are already set to have filled the hole left by Torbjorn Heggem, who recently departed the club to play in Serie A.
Torbjorn Heggem has just been sold by West Brom to Bologna for £10 million, and the Baggies have already sorted a replacement for the Norwegian defender.
Fans may have been worried about how they would replace such a player after he looked destined to be a key part of Ryan Mason’s plans at West Brom, having started in their opening day victory over Blackburn Rovers, inspired by his defensive partner Nat Phillips.

West Brom have been linked with a number of signings over the past week, including having interest in the next Jay-Jay Okocha, while also looking to strengthen their defence with a loan move for Kian Best.
However, the club have not moved as quickly in these deals, as West Brom have identified that a Heggem replacement is more important.
West Brom reportedly set to sign Krystian Bielik from Birmingham City
It has been reported on X, formerly known as Twitter, by Neil Moxley, that West Brom are set to raid Birmingham City to sign Krystian Bielik.
The Polish defender captained the Blues to their historic League One title last season, leading the defensive line as they secured the highest points tally ever recorded in the division.
Bielik joined the Blues permanently from Derby County in the summer of 2023, as he signed a three-year contract.
Rumours around the future of Bielik leaving the club began to swirl after he was not named in the squad to face Sheffield United in the Carabao Cup, with Chris Davies remaining coy when asked about him, as reported in Birmingham Live.
He said: “Nothing I can give too much on Krys; it’s just that the squad was set and the balance of the squad was right for this game.”

Arsene Wenger is a huge fan of Krystian Bielik
Bielik originally moved to England from Legia Warsaw in 2015 as a 17-year-old, having broken into the side as a year previously in Poland.
There was excitement about how he could become a future Arsenal star; however, that never panned out unfortunately for him.
Yet, the Polish defender has demonstrated his top-class talent at the Championship level with several teams and looks set to do that with West Brom.

Arsene Wenger was always a fan of Bielik, having spoken highly about him upon signing the future Poland international, predicting he would have a great career, as reported by the I paper.
He said: “He’s a young boy, and he has a huge talent.
“I would say, considering his age, he’s more one for the future.”
