EFL Analysis has the latest on Finn Azaz’s Middlesbrough future amid interest from Premier League clubs.

Middlesbrough have received interest in several of their top players during the 2025 summer transfer window.

Hayden Hackney could leave Boro before the transfer deadline despite already turning down a move to Ipswich Town.

Centre-back Rav van den Berg is wanted and has admirers in Europe, while we can now share an update on Finn Azaz.

Will Middlesbrough sell Finn Azaz

Crystal Palace scouted Finn Azaz in the March international break and several other teams were linked previously.

We reported back in May that Middlesbrough are unlikely to sanction an Azaz sale in the 2025 summer window.

Now, EFL Analysis has spoken to our transfer expert, Graeme Bailey, for an update on the Irishman.

He told us: “There is interest. No offers but interest. Again, as we’re going to see with a lot of these players, let’s see how the rest of this window maps out for him. Obviously, he’s injured. He hasn’t played in pre-season at all. So that doesn’t help either way.

“But if there’s a Premier League club that starts badly, he has got Premier League interest and there will be big Championship clubs who’ve got money parachute payments.

“He hasn’t got a clause, I don’t believe. So I think it would take an awfully big bid to get Azaz out.”

Finn Azaz wants to play at high level

The Middlesbrough midfielder is a Republic of Ireland international and has his eyes set on the upcoming 2026 World Cup.

Azaz commented on playing at a high level so he can make himself as competitive as possible going into the competition.

He said earlier this summer: “I’m playing at a high level now. The Championship is a really competitive league.

“I’m fully aware that I have those ambitions. I’m looking at the World Cup next summer, and I want to be playing at the highest level to make myself as competitive as possible for the qualifiers.”
