One Middlesbrough star has been handed huge praise following the convincing win against Sheffield United.
Middlesbrough beat Sheffield United at the Riverside Stadium to continue their stay at the top of the Championship table.
It has been a phenomenal start to life in Teesside for Rob Edwards, with his team notching four successive victories in the Championship so far.
They made no error in toppling a struggling Sheffield United side, who, in contrast to Boro, find themselves without a single point in the Championship.
It was Tommy Conway who bagged the winning goal, but one former Boro man hailed an unsung hero, who received rare praise for his showing against the Blades.

Former Middlesbrough star Neil Maddison praises Callum Brittain following Sheffield United win
Following Middlesbrough’s home victory over Sheffield United, former Boro player Neil Maddison, who managed 64 appearances at the club, alongside a stint at local side Darlington as well, was quick to praise Callum Brittain.
Speaking on co-commentary for the BBC, the wing-back was singled out for a phenomenal showing at the Riverside Stadium, where he kept Louie Barry of Sheffield United quiet, while also providing an extra dimension on the front foot.
Reflecting on Brittain’s performance, Maddison said: “Callum Brittain has been absolutely brilliant and he deserves the standing ovation from fans. He is getting better and better and better.
“What a player he’s becoming for the Boro.”

Rob Edwards has defied expectations so far at Boro
When Middlesbrough confirmed the appointment of Rob Edwards as Michael Carrick’s successor, there was some scepticism from Boro fans as to whether it was a positive appointment or not.
Edwards had seen success with Luton Town following their promotion to the Premier League, but his time at the club during the 2024/25 season was far from satisfactory as he oversaw the early stages of a campaign that ended in relegation.
However, with four wins on the spin, Edwards has proven many wrong with how Middlesbrough have looked so far. The wins have been there, and they have been backed up by brilliant performances.
It was up against a severely struggling Sheffield United side, but Middlesbrough’s showing against the Blades showed plenty of promise. A side gunning for promotion need to be able to dictate games at home, and that was the case for Edwards’ side.
