Frank Lampard has enjoyed a fine start to this season in charge of Coventry City, with the club remaining unbeaten in the Championship across their opening six fixtures.
Beyond the Sky Blues, only league leaders Middlesbrough have made an unbeaten start to the campaign in the second tier of English football.
While Coventry may be unbeaten, there will be a desire from Lampard to achieve more wins, as the 47-year-old’s side have only secured two wins from these opening six fixtures.
The Chelsea legend will believe this weekend against Birmingham City is the perfect chance to return to winning ways after a run of three consecutive draws, the latest being a goalless draw with Leicester City.

Coventry City on track to equal 1993/94 unbeaten Premier League start
Following the draw against Leicester City, Frank Lampard has delivered an unbeaten start across their six opening fixtures for the first time in 32 years at the second tier or a higher division.
That start to the campaign 32 years ago had Coventry City go unbeaten for the first eight fixtures in the Premier League for the 1993-94 season.
Coventry have had a longer unbeaten run to a campaign, with this occurring in the 2019-20 campaign when the Sky Blues were competing in League One, when they finished as champions.

Frank Lampard will look to these records, and he will be desperate to use this as an incentive for his Coventry side as they look to achieve promotion back to the Premier League after several seasons of knocking at the door of climbing out of the Championship.

Coventry City will take confidence from their recent home record against Birmingham City
The Sky Blues have an impressive recent record against Birmingham City, which should give them confidence in this weekend’s Championship fixture.
Coventry are unbeaten in their last six home league games against Birmingham, conceding just one goal in this run.

While the Blues did manage to defeat Mark Robins’ Coventry 3-0 the last time the two sides squared off against each other in April 2024, a result Lampard will be desperate not to repeat, Birmingham have not won consecutive matches against the Sky Blues since the 2006-07 campaign.
This history will inspire Lampard and his Coventry side that they could edge closer to equalling that 1993-94 campaign start in the Premier League, a season they finished comfortably midtable in the English top flight.
