The Tractor Boys were feeling the pressure after a challenging start to their campaign, but a performance inspired by Jaden Philogene saw a relieved Kieran McKenna grab a win.
On a personal level, it has been a difficult start to the season for Philogene, but he was a different animal against Sheffield United, bagging three goals against the hapless Michael Cooper in between the sticks for the Blades.

Many suggested that the former Aston Villa and Hull City man did not show much intent to take on his man, nor had any confidence in the final third, but that was not the case against Sheffield United.
Despite a strong start from Sheffield United, Ipswich Town took the lead, and it was Philogene who notched the goal for Kieran McKenna’s side, picking up the ball after a fortunate deflection off the Blades man, before shifting it to his right foot and slotting it past Michael Cooper.
Ipswich Town fans reacted to his three goals and performance on X, as one suggested that it was a ‘great finish from Philogene there’ and that he was ‘class’ throughout the contest.
One supporter also said that ‘Philogene actually looking like he’s offering something, a relief’, while another labelled the winger as ‘brilliant’ after his goal and impact in the game.
Fans continued, suggesting that it was ‘one of the best hattricks I’ve seen for a while’ and that he is a ‘ridiculously good player on his day’.

Throughout the win against Sheffield United, much of Ipswich Town’s threat came down the left flank due to the quality shown by both Jaden Philogene and Leif Davis.
It has been a challenging start to the season for Ipswich Town, who have been far below the levels expected, but this game felt like a vision of how dangerous they could prove to be when on top form.
Whether it was Philogene’s tricky feet and incredible finishing, or Davis’s ability to pick out the attackers with his pinpoint crossing, Ipswich Town always looked like scoring when the ball was sprayed out to the left, which also, admittedly, reflects poorly on the Sheffield United defence.
