Middlesbrough supporters have had their say on Morgan Whittaker following the draw to Preston North End.
The unbeaten run for Rob Edwards’ side continues after Middlesbrough held Preston North End to a draw.
Middlesbrough found themselves behind after Lewis Dobbin opened the scoring for the hosts with a phenomenal strike, and it took Edwards’ side until the 72nd minute to get back on level terms, with Matt Targett scoring his first.
A late goal for Preston plunged Middlesbrough into concern, but they levelled it up once again, courtesy of Sontje Hansen.
In what ended to be an exciting attacking performance by Boro, with two late goals salvaging a point, it was far different with Morgan Whittaker on the pitch, who struggled to make a difference, something that has been highlighted by supporters.

What Middlesbrough fans said about Morgan Whittaker following Preston North End loss
Following the defeat on the road against Preston North End, Middlesbrough supporters took to social media to express their frustration at Morgan Whittaker’s performance.
Reacting on X, one fan said: “Whittaker this week. Burgzorg last week. Horrendous decision making in the final 3rd.”
Another supporter suggested that Rob Edwards has ‘got to get more out of Whittaker’ and that he was ‘too much of a passenger’ against Preston.
Whittaker was also described as both ‘lacklustre’ and ‘abysmal’ by a selection of fans on social media, with many glad to see him hooked in the 66th minute.
The former Swansea City and Plymouth Argyle attacker made way for Sverre Nypan, who offered extra dynamism in the final third and breathed extra life into the Middlesbrough attack, as he did in the win against Sheffield United.

Morgan Whittaker stats vs Preston North End
It was an afternoon to forget for Morgan Whittaker, who struggled to make any sort of impact for Rob Edwards’ side.
He has struggled to live up to expectations since he arrived from Plymouth Argyle, and this afternoon was no different for him.
Via SofaScore, Whittaker was unable to notch a single shot and only managed one successful dribble out of an attempted four.
Whittaker also lost possession 12 times in the contest, making him incredibly passive against Preston defender Andrew Hughes, who was able to contain any threat from the Middlesbrough attacker.
After a difficult showing for Whittaker, there is every chance that Edwards will see Sverre Nypan as a direct replacement for him for future games. During his substitute appearance, he showed far more promise and is surely deserving of a start next time out as a result.
