Hull City have made a slow start to their Championship campaign under new manager Sergej Jakirovic, as they currently occupy 20th position in the division.

The Tigers will be looking for their second win of the season as they host Southampton this weekend in the Championship.
Southampton will believe they have got off to a slow start this season as they are looking to make an immediate return to the Premier League after their relegation.
Will Still has pointed to the fact that Flynn Downes and Shea Charles failing to click at present is a key reason behind this slow start.

Jakirovic will hope for this clunky nature around the Southampton performances as he looks to make history with his Hull City side.

Hull City are looking for consecutive victories over Southampton for the first time in 74 years
The Tigers were victorious the last time they played Southampton in February 2024 but haven’t won back-to-back matches against the Saints since the 1950-51 second-tier campaign.
In that campaign 74 years ago, Hull beat Southampton 4-1 at home while managing to secure a 3-2 victory down in Southampton.
This poor record may indicate that the travel to Southampton has had an impact on the success of Hull in previous seasons; however, they will have the benefit of facing the Saints at home this weekend.
Jakirovic may view this as a key reason behind him being able to achieve this incredible feat, as he looks to lead Hull to a piece of history they last did 74 years ago.

Southampton have a good record away from home against Hull City
The Saints may be confident of denying Hull and Jakirovic the chance of breaking this 74-year wait for back-to-back wins against Southampton.
This is due to the recent away record that Southampton have against Hull City.
The Saints have won four of their last five away league games at Hull, winning their most recent trip 2-1 in the 2023/24 season.
However, it must be remembered that due to their campaign in the Premier League last season, they have won just two of their last 33 league matches, drawing each of their last two, with the Saints last drawing three in a row in August/September 2021.
