Barry Bannan had a moment to forget after he was sent off against Leicester City.
On a day when Sheffield Wednesday fans protested against Dejphon Chansiri, it looked to be an afternoon where the Owls would come home with a shock three points after Nathaniel Chalobah gave them the lead.
Leicester then equalised shortly before the hour mark after a well-worked free-kick from the Foxes was fired home by Jannik Vestergaard.
The pressure was already on the visitors but their job was made even harder when Bannan was sent off and it proved to be costly as Wout Faes’ late header secured the win for Marti Cifuentes’ men.

Sky Sports commentator agrees with Barry Bannan red card
After being booked earlier in the game, it was always going to be a risk going into a challenge in the way he did on Harry Winks.
Replays showed that the midfielder had won the ball but Sky Sports’ Courtney Sweetman-Kirk believes it was the follow-through that made the second yellow the right call.
“I understand why Bannan is frustrated,” said Sweetman-Kirk.
“He gets to the ball first, but it’s about the follow through that goes over the ball into the thigh.”
How many games will Barry Bannan miss for Sheffield Wednesday?
Wednesday were able to register Bannan despite the ongoing EFL restrictions and news of his suspension will be a bitter blow.
Since it was a second yellow card, the former Scotland international will only miss one game, which will be the Carabao Cup tie against Barrow.
Stoke City await after the Cup tie where Bannan will be available once again, which means that Wednesday’s talisman will be able to lead them out at Hillsborough.
