The transfer window has been, well, pretty quiet for Leicester City so far.
Asmir Begovic is the only incoming and in terms of departures, Conor Coady to Wrexham and Wilfred Ndidi’s transfer to Besiktas are the only high profile ones.
Although the Foxes are awaiting a pending points deduction, many experts are still tipping Leicester as a favourite for promotion.
That will require finding some new additions, however, EFL Analysis understands that there is a stumbling block.
Leicester City still need to sell to buy
Roughly £10m has been fetched in from the sales of Coady and Ndidi while the wages saved from those two, plus those who left at the end of their contract.
Despite that, there are still far too many players on the books for Marti Cifuentes and EFL Analysis’ Chief Football Correspondent Graeme Bailey predicts that there will be little in the way of incomings.
He said: “They had over 30 players so they could do with a good half a dozen to move on, really. They’re working on it. I don’t think it’s a set number really, but they want a dozen to go if not more.
“I’m not sure if and when they will make any moves to sign anyone, but it doesn’t help when you’ve got 31 players in the Championship. You can’t keep adding to that. It’s a real issue for them. But, there’s still time, and I think they’re fairly confident of getting that squad down.”
Leicester City will go into the new season without a Jamie Vardy replacement
The Foxes kick off their Championship campaign against Sheffield Wednesday on Sunday, are expected to be comfortable winners.
For the first time in 13 years, Jamie Vardy won’t be leading the line and instead it will more than likely be Patson Daka.

Cifuentes is a fan of Daka but with 16-year-old Jake Evans the only other out-and-out forward, there are legitimate concerns about where the main source of goals will come from.
Stephy Mavididi could play there if needed, however, Daka must finally live up to the hype that surrounded him when he first joined.
