EFL Analysis can reveal that Marti Cifuentes is very keen to keep one Leicester City star that hasn’t always been a fan favourite.
Cifuentes will need to trim his Leicester squad to comply with EFL registration rules and a number of high earners could be heading for the exit door.
Conor Coady could be joining Wrexham and so far, Asmir Begovic is the only addition to the ranks.
Leicester fans want to see change but all the signs point to one star remaining at the King Power Stadium.

Patson Daka could stay at Leicester City this summer
With Jamie Vardy no longer at the Foxes, the only out-and-out striker still at the club is Patson Daka.
Signed from Red Bull Salzburg in 2021, Daka has never really hit the heights that once saw him tipped to become an elite striker.
Daka has started the majority of the pre-season games and bagged a brace in a win against Karpaty Lviv.
A striker would be close to the top of Leicester’s shopping list, but EFL Analysis’ Chief Football Correspondent Graeme Bailey said that Cifuentes would “love to keep” and that the manager ranks him highly amongst the squad.
Leicester City could be open to selling anyone
The Foxes could be starting the season with a nine-point deduction and will be aware that they need to trim the wage bill.
Several players are also out of contract in the East Midlands in 2026 and Bailey revealed that no Leicester player is ‘untouchable’.
West Ham United still hold interest in Mads Hermansen and star man Bilal El Khannouss is wanted by Premier League clubs.
Other high earners like Wout Faes and Boubakary Soumare will also be considered as players they’d like to get rid of.
