Derby County are closing in on their first few signings of the summer transfer window.
As per a report from John Percy, Carlton Morris is set for a medical with the Rams after a fee was agreed with Luton Town while Andreas Weimann and Danny Batth are closing in on moves to Pride Park after their Blackburn Rovers contracts expired.
Derby are still waiting on investment, but with new signings finally about to land in DE24, excitement will be building ahead of fixture release day on 26 June.
While it is a fresh start for two of those players, for Weimann it’s a second chance at making a name for himself in black-and-white, but his ambitions may be slightly different now compared to when he first made the move to the Rams in 2015.

Andreas Weimann was keen to take Derby County back to the Premier League in 2015
It’s been 17 years since Derby were last in the top flight, and a short stint in League One has come sooner than a visit to the Premier League.

However, throughout the mid-2010s the Rams came ever so close to achieving their goal, and when Weimann first joined the club in 2015, he was keen to help take them to promotion.
The Austrian said (via: dcfc.co.uk): “I’m excited to be here and I’m looking forward to the new challenge. Derby have plans to be successful and get promoted and that’s what attracted me here; I want to be part of that.
“The opportunity to play first-team football and drive the team to promotion is something that I want to do. I know how difficult the Championship is – I’ve played in the league on loan at Watford a few years ago – and it was a tough league back then.
“With the set-up here and the players we have – and those that we are looking to sign – I feel that we have a good chance to get promoted.”
Andreas Weimann’s job is different in 2025
While he was signed to be a prolific new forward in 2015, this time around, Weimann’s job will be to add experience and know-how to an attacking line-up that lacked leadership last season.
He will also be expected to pitch in with goals, a trait that he picked up following his departure from Pride Park and after a campaign in which the Rams scored very little from open play, this will be extremely useful.
There is no denying that the 33-year-old has lost a touch of pace over the years, but he will be an excellent option from the bench for Derby and Eustace knows exactly what to expect from the veteran attacker.
