Coventry City and Birmingham City don’t face each other until the end of the month, but tensions have already been raised after an announcement from the Sky Blues on Tuesday.
The Midlands clubs are set to meet in the Championship on September 27, with Frank Lampard’s side hosting the recently promoted Blues at the Coventry City Building Society Arena, which the club have recently bought.
Both sides have had pleasing starts to the campaign, with Coventry sitting in fifth in the table and Birmingham sitting 10th.
Their meeting next month will no doubt be a tasty one, but Birmingham fans are already feeling disgruntled after the news of City’s ticket prices for the fixture.

Birmingham City fans criticise ‘disgusting’ Coventry City ticket prices
On Tuesday, Birmingham confirmed via their club website the pricing for their away trip to the CBS Arena.
Adult tickets are listed as £45, while Under-18s are £35.
Coventry City away ticket prices for Birmingham City fans
- Adult – £45
- Senior (65+) – £40
- Young Adults (18-21) – £40
- Under 18 – £35
A number of Blues fans were stunned by the fees being charged by their neighbours, taking to social media to express their shock at how expensive they thought they were.
Writing on X, one fan said: “£45 for a ticket is genuinely scandalous.”
“Disgraceful – £45 to watch a game in the Championship,” a second said. “Can get flights and a ticket to a different country for cheaper than one family’s match ticket.”
Even non-Birmingham fans were perplexed by the fees.
One said: “Not even a Birmingham fan but sorry?! Every price there is disgusting but a child costing £35 is the worst! The EFL needs to introduce a cap on ticket prices as football fans in this country are being ripped off and priced out of watching their team and it needs to stop!”
“That is shocking,” another said.
Coventry are charging their home fans the same prices to watch the game.
Does the English Football League have away ticket price caps?
The Premier League caps their 20 clubs from setting away ticket prices at anything above £30. This was introduced in 2016.
Supporters across the Championship in particular are being charged over £30 on a regular basis.

Queens Park Rangers, for example, charged adult Charlton Athletic fans £39 for their recent fixture.
The English Football League currently sets no limit on what their clubs can charge visiting supporters, but many fans are calling for one to be introduced to control these situations.
