Burnley supporters were all in agreement over one star man in the clash with fellow promotion chasers Sheffield United.

Scott Parker’s Burnley notched a vital win against Sheffield United, which edges them ever-closer to promotion to the Premier League.

It was a tight affair for much of the contest, with Sheffield United certainly putting up a fight, with Tom Cannon notably getting his first goal for the Blades after 11 games with Chris Wilder’s side, but, ultimately, it was Josh Brownhill who stole the show at Turf Moor.

Brownhill bagged the opener for the Clarets, and also gave his side an advantage going into the second half, one which Burnley were able to vigilently hold onto for the rest of the tie.

Many Burnley fans were full of praise for one man following the tie, although it’s not a surprise to see who it was directed towards…

Burnley fans collectively praise ‘legend’ Josh Brownhill vs Sheffield United

One of Burnley’s star men this season has undoubtedly been Brownhill, who, from midfield, has popped up and notched goals, assists, and has helped dominate the centre-of-the-park in many clashes.

It was unsurprising to see the Englishman at the centre of things once again in this clash, having notched two goals, both coming in the first half. The first came after Joe Cullen’s near-post effort was saved by Michael Cooper, and the Clarets star was quick to pounce and struck it more than firmly into the roof of the net, whilst the second came courtesy of a slotted penalty, sending the Sheffield United shot-stopper the wrong way.

During his flawless display, Burnley fans took to X to praise Brownhill, including one who suggested that he was a ‘Modern [day] Burnley legend’ following the game.

Fans continued to flood social media, including one that said it ‘Will always baffle me how many people don’t rate Josh Brownhill’, followed by another supporter that said he is an ‘absolute powerhouse, amazing awareness too in and around the box’.

“Absolutely mad how Brownhill doesn’t even seem to have had that good a season, but he’s nearly the top scorer in the league. Mental. So clutch,” said another Burnley fan, whilst one referred to him as a ‘BEAUTY’.

Josh Brownhill goal record reflects astonishing 2024/25 Championship campaign

You could say that Burnley have had several top players this season, as seen by their standing in the Championship, and much of this comes down to James Trafford and the defence that he commands.

However, when it comes to attacking talent, it isn’t often that all heads would turn towards a central-midfielder as their bagsman, but that is certainly the case with Brownhill and Burnley.

With 16 goals this season now, sitting just one behind Norwich City winger Borja Sainz, and out-performing Josh Sargent and Joel Prioe, two strikers enduring one of their best seasons, it reflects just how good the Burnley man has been this campaign.

Burnley often get tagged as a side that don’t offer too much attacking threat, nor creativity, but with Brownhill in the side, such a statement has no weight.
