Championship expert shares Hull City vs Coventry score prediction with one team prepared to ‘grind this out’

The weekend may be over but there’s one more big game to play in this round of games from the Championship, with this Hull City vs Coventry City score prediction offering a conflicting outlook on the fixture.

After the weekend’s action in the Championship, there’s a fantastic opportunity for Coventry to jump up to fifth place in the table and put five points between themselves and the chasing pack outside the play-off places.

Frank Lampard’s men have been in spotty form of late, but are still in a strong position as we head into the final run-in in the race for the play-offs.

Meanwhile, Hull City find themselves dangling precariously above the drop zone, and will be very worried having seen Plymouth and Derby pick up valuable points in the Championship relegation battle this weekend.

Crucial points to play for at both ends of the table, then, but will it be the Tigers or the Sky Blues that come out on top here?

Experts disagree on Hull City vs Coventry score prediction

Discussing the upcoming fixture on the Championship Check-In podcast, hosts Benjamin Bloom and Sam Parkin couldn’t come to an agreement on which way the result will go on Monday night.

Bloom said: “I wonder if this is a 0-0. You said Coventry were a bit tight and stoic in the last game. Hull now need to grind this out and get over the line, so I’m going to go 0-0.”

Parkin was far more optimistic about the kind of game we’re about to get, and suggested we can at least expect some goals from the contest.

Parkin added: “I’m going to go for Frank Lampard fist pumps in front of a rapturous Coventry away support. 2-1 to Coventry.”

Ruben Selles knows how difficult this game will be, and by the sounds of it, the experts do not expect Hull to get much, if anything from the clash on Monday night. Still, in this division, anything can happen, as we see week in, week out.

A win for Coventry would put them in play-off driving seat

While Hull arguably need the three points more here, it is Coventry who potentially stand to gain far more if they do get the win.

Of all the play-off contenders, Coventry could really take control of the battle now and put themselves in a nice, comfortable position heading into the final four matches.

Lampard will just hope that, if he does get this win in the bag, his side can continue on in the same way for the last few games before the play-offs to gather some momentum.

That incredible run of nine wins in ten games in January and February was massive and made Coventry look unbeatable. They need that same confidence and mentality to return swiftly, as two wins in the last five is simply not good enough.
