Championship pundits clash over Millwall vs Middlesbrough score prediction, ‘feels less viable’

Middlesbrough travel to The Den for a Championship meeting with Millwall on Saturday afternoon.

Boro beat Swansea City 1-0 to get their new season underway, with Dael Fry netting the only goal of the match.

Millwall earned a 2-1 victory over Norwich City in their opening weekend fixture.

The two sides were in play-off contention in the previous campaign, but both failed to make the top six.

Now, two Championship pundits have made their score predictions for the fixture.

Championship pundits make Millwall vs Middlesbrough score predictions

Boro’s win over Swansea was solid, but it was by no means a masterful display from Rob Edwards’ side.

Millwall, on the other hand, have had a productive transfer window and they have been impressing under Alex Neil for much of 2025.

Now, Sam Parkin and Benjamin Bloom have predicted the scoreline for what they expect to be a close game.

Bloom has backed a win for the home side, while Parkin expects the points to be shared.

Bloom said: “Given that Middlesbrough’s win [vs Swansea] was kind of tight and feels less viable than what Alex Neil has already done at the end of last season and in the opening round, I am going to back Millwall to go back-to-back.

“And I’m going to back another tight game involving Middlesbrough, and I’m going to go Millwall one Middlesbrough nil.

“Sam Parkin disagrees with me because he thinks Middlesbrough are going to get something in this one, but he doesn’t think they’re going to win it.

“He’s gone right down the middle, he’s taking my scoreline but he’s giving Middlesbrough a goal. So Sam has gone Millwall one, Middlesbrough one, honours even at The Den.”

Injured Middlesbrough player could return for Millwall

Boro boss Edwards has shared an injury update this week.

On that front, Finn Azaz could return to the matchday squad, but he is not expected to start.

Edwards said, as per the Northern Echo: “Finn looked really decent in training today.

“He’s been out a number of weeks so we know he won’t be available to start the game on Saturday, but whether he’s available for the squad, we shall see.

“Other than that, George is progressing well, Darragh is progressing well but is still maybe a week or two behind. We’re probably looking at potentially Finn for the squad for the weekend.

“Law took a bang towards the end [of the Doncaster game], so we’ll have to find out how he is. Alfie has a bit of a nasty cut on his head; he’s bleeding in there. We’ll find out later exactly how they are.”
