Charlton Athletic are poised to continue their impressive summer transfer window business with the acquisition of a highly-rated Premier League starlet.
After earning promotion to the Championship with victory in the League One play-off final earlier this summer, Nathan Jones and the Charlton Athletic transfer team have been hard at work in the summer transfer window.
Given the calibre of teams in the 2025/26 Championship table, Charlton were backed by many to be relegation fodder this season.
However, the Addicks’ summer business, including signing Charlie Kelman from QPR, has filled fans with renewed hope ahead of this season.
Those survival aspirations can now grow even stronger, as EFL Analysis can reveal that Charlton have entered talks to sign a Premier League starlet.

Charlton Athletic are in talks to sign Wolves defender Dexter Lembikisa
The Addicks’ ninth summer signing came recently after Charlton brought in Harvey Knibbs from Reading, despite lofty Championship interest in his services.
Now, Charlton are poised to hit double digits for incomings this summer, with the Addicks entering talks to sign Wolves defender Dexter Lembikisa.
EFL Analysis can exclusively reveal, thanks to information from our Chief Football correspondent Graeme Bailey, that Charlton are in talks to sign Lembikisa from Wolves.
Discussions are ongoing over whether the move will be a loan deal or a permanent transfer.
Lembikisa has been training with Charlton this summer, after Addicks reporter for BBC London Sport, Louis Mendez, revealed in July that the 21-year-old was on trial in their pre-season friendly against Wealdstone.
The right-back joined League One side Barnsley on loan for the second half of last season and went on to make 12 appearances for the Tykes.
Lembikisa has 30 international caps to his name for Jamaica already, despite being only 21, having made several appearances for the Reggae Boys this summer at the CONCACAF Gold Cup.
The Addicks faithful will be hoping to see him bring that pedigree, and the praise ex-Wolves boss Julien Lopetegui showered him with, to Charlton this season.

Lembikisa broke through into the Wolves first-team before Lopetegui’s arrival, and was granted his first Wolves start under him in the FA Cup against Liverpool.
As quoted by Birmingham Live, Lopetegui said: “He’s 19, a good guy, he wants to learn more. I think he has good physical strengths and he has improved a lot of things, as have all the players.
“He is working in a good direction and with a good commitment.
| Team name | Appearances |
| Wolves | 4 |
| Rotherham United (loan) | 27 |
| Hearts (loan) | 18 |
| Yverdon (loan) | 3 |
| Barnsley (loan) | 12 |
| Jamaican national team | 30 |
“He is very young and has to keep this up for a lot of years. The more difficult thing is not to arrive, it is to stay.
“He [Dexter] and Hodgy (Joe Hodge), they have shown a good character and personality, and even quality because they have been able to play here, and they have to believe in themselves.
“But this is not about their age. This is about their quality and their character and to be ready to compete in this level.”
Transfermarkt report that Lembikisa’s current market value sits at the £1.1m mark, with his current Wolves deal set to expire next summer.
