As reports surface linking Frank Lampard to Premier League jobs, one EFL expert has given a surprise verdict on how it could benefit Coventry City if their boss moved on.
Coventry City have enjoyed a positive start to their 2025/26 Championship season under the stewardship of Frank Lampard.
With two wins and two draws on the board so far, the Sky Blues have every reason to be optimistic under Lampard, who continues to thrive at the CBS Arena.
Reports have suggested that West Ham United are interested in the Sky Blues boss, but EFL Analysis exclusively revealed Coventry City will keep Lampard until the end of the season.
It could continue to be a concern for Coventry fans, however, if their fine form continues, then Lampard’s impact will not go unnoticed.
While the potential of Lampard’s departure could have a significant effect, one EFL expert has reflected on the positives if he was to move on from his post.

EFL expert gives surprising opinion on Frank Lampard despite bright Coventry City start
Coventry City’s decision to replace Mark Robins with Frank Lampard was initially branded as a huge mistake by the fanbase. Still, the former Chelsea and Everton boss proved his quality, taking the Sky Blues on a magnificent run to the play-offs last season.
Despite the clarity that Lampard is able to get the best out of this Coventry City side, and has continued to do so successfully so far this season, he still has his doubters.
EFL expert Ryan Dilks has reacted to the potential of Lampard moving on from Coventry at some point and the impact that would have on the club.
Via the Second Tier Podcast, Dilks said: “I don’t think it would be a bad thing for Coventry if he did go because if he does, they can go and get someone who, I believe, is more tactically switched on than Lampard and have the best chance of getting over the line in terms of promotion, which is ultimately the goal for Coventry.
“I’ve had my doubts about his capabilities of doing that. I think Lampard would be mad to make that move [to the Premier League] considering he’s enjoying his best spell as a manager in many years. He should surely stay for the benefit of his own career.”
Since Lampard took over at Coventry City, he has managed an average of 1.72 points per match, winning over half of his games with the Sky Blues.

Frank Lampard’s best route to the Premier League is with Coventry City
Coventry City continue to look for their long-awaited return to the Premier League, where they have not been since 2001.
The club have not been in a better position than now, under Frank Lampard, who has managed to maintain top levels for all of his players.
While Lampard’s stock has risen during his time at the CBS Arena, following his tricky spells at both Chelsea and Everton, there is no need for him to rush into another Premier League role.
Coventry City have the foundations to make it to the Premier League, and Lampard has a squad capable, making it the best route for him to return to the top flight.
