Coventry City will break a new record during West Brom fixture

It’s the game of the week on Friday as Coventry City face West Bromwich Albion in a game that could decide the fate of the top six.

Opta are predicting a tense end to the Championship play-off race, with a host of teams still in the mix.

Coventry’s 1-1 draw at Hull City earlier this week meant they missed an opportunity to create some breathing room between themselves and the chasing pack and they could be overtaken by West Brom if the visitors win at the Coventry Building Society Arena.

Frank Lampard actually took inspiration from West Brom vs Coventry earlier this season – the game where he suffered his first defeat as manager of the Sky Blues.

Meanwhile, Tony Mowbray has challenged star man Tom Fellows to become more consistent ahead of the end-of-season run-in.

Fans of both sides are equally as excited and nervous for the Easter weekend showdown and will turn up in their thousands to show their support.

Coventry tipped to break attendance record against West Brom

Everybody wants a ticket to the game of the week and the Sky Blues look set to pack out their home ground.

According to the Coventry’s official website it will be a sell-out for the all-Midlands affair, therefore breaking a league attendance record for the club.

The Coventry Building Society Arena can hold a total of 32,609 and there won’t be an empty seat in the house, with over 31,000 expected.

On average, Coventry have had attendances of 27,479 – nearly 8,000 more than what they were getting since their return to the Championship.

What is Coventry’s current record attendance?

Coventry are used to the big occasion nowadays and the milestone they are set to record against West Brom will break one they only set a year ago.

Their current record attendance was set against Leeds United in April 2024, when 30,232 fans were there to see them beat the Yorkshire giants 2-1.

This game will be just as important and the win could all-but-seal their place in the top six with three games left of the normal season to come after it.
