Sheffield Wednesday owner Dejphon Chansiri has landed himself in hot water with the EFL once more, and the Malaysian could have an unlikely solution to the issue.

For the second time this year, Dejphon Chansiri failed to pay the Sheffield Wednesday players and staff, with the Owls now facing several punishments.

Wednesday fans have voiced their anger towards Chansiri once more, as his failure to plan ahead could result in their club facing a transfer ban.

The situation at Sheffield Wednesday has been branded ‘shambolic‘ by sections of the local media, and with two weeks to respond to charges for breaching EFL regulations, Wednesday could face a points deduction if there is no reaction from the 57-year-old.

So, after missing the initial June 2 payment deadline, Chansiri could have something up his sleeve to raise the necessary funds.

Manchester City agree £1.5 million transfer for Caelan-Kole Cadamarteri

With the Owls struggling to pay player wages, one solution to the problem could be selling some of their prized assets.

Josh Windass attracted interest from Valencia ahead of the summer transfer window, and lower down the system at Hillsborough, young striker Caelan-Kole Cadamarteri has been eyed by some of the Premier League’s biggest clubs.

In April, Sheffield Wednesday rejected a seven-figure bid from Manchester City for Cadamarteri, and journalist Joe Crann revealed that the Cityzens, Chelsea and Everton have lodged three bids each worth a reported £1.5 million for the 15-year-old.

A deal has now been agreed for Cadamarteri to join Man City, according to Fabrizio Romano, with Wednesday wanting a sell-on clause and a substantial portion of the money paid up front.

The Yorkshire outfit were understandably reluctant to lose a player of Cadamarteri’s potential, but during a time of desperation, that money could be used to pay their current squad and staff.

Why Man City wanted Cadamarteri

An England under-16 international, Cadamarteri is a centre-forward with huge potential coming through the ranks at Hillsborough.

The teenager scored a whopping 24 goals in 23 appearances for Wednesday’s under-18s last term, despite playing a few years up.

Cadamarteri also notched 10 assists, and scored 19 goals in eight games at the Floodlit Cup, evincing his incredible talent at youth level.

Now, the wonderkid will get the opportunity to test himself against some of the best youngsters in England as he steps into City’s under-18s.
