Sheffield Wednesday fans have been clear with their opinions about Dejphon Chansiri, despite the reported positive update.

Sheffield Wednesday’s financial mishaps continue after players, coaches and non-playing staff were not paid their full wages for May.

The PFA have sent a message to Sheffield Wednesday about the ongoing situation surrounding players, several of whom have posted cryptic messages on X that hint at their disappointment with the problem.

Pressure has been placed on owner Dejphon Chansiri by the SWFC Supporters’ Trust, with former Sheffield Wednesday boss Chris Turner slating the Owls owner on the night.

Thankfully, Sheffield Wednesday fans have been fed an inkling of good news following the most recent update.

Sheffield Wednesday update as Dejphon Chansiri makes progress on payments

As reported by The Star, progress has been made in the payments expected by staff for the month of May. Writing yesterday, it was suggested that non-footballing staff were expecting to be fully paid by the club within 24 hours.

However, the status of player wage payments is not yet known. Rob Staton, per X, added that coaches and backroom staff were also expecting to receive their payment for May.

From an outside perspective, some may think that this relaxes the pressure on Chansiri, but fans have been very clear in their demands for the club. There is a clear trend in the supporters’ views and what they want for the future of the club, which they hope involves a change of ownership.

How Owls fans have reacted to latest Owls update

The news that backroom staff are set to be paid will be a relief to all of those directly affected, but the fans have made it clear that the issues still exist, especially considering the players haven’t yet been paid for May.

Reacting to the news that Sheffield Wednesday were set to make progress on the ongoing situation, supporters took to X to express their views, with one suggesting that it was ‘great news for the staff but this should take no pressure away from Chansiri.’

He was joined by other Sheffield Wednesday fans, with one describing the situation as an ‘embarrassing diabolical fiasco’, as well as ‘not good enough’ by another supporter in agreement.

Many Owls fans appear to have had enough of the Chansiri tenure as one said that ‘if he’s not selling up I don’t wanna hear it’, whilst another suggested that it was ‘good to hear, however the club has to be sold’.

Any majority support that Chansiri may have once had has diminished by this point. Previous Sheffield Wednesday protests showed a silent majority who weren’t massively aggrieved by the owner’s actions, but the black-and-white reality of unpaid wages has hammered home what many fans have dreaded, and is something that has truly rallied the support towards any potential Chansiri successor that may emerge.
