Sheffield Wednesday’s financial mess continues to plague the club, and Dejphon Chansiri has now been called out in emphatic fashion by former manager Chris Turner.
It’s hard to know where to begin with the chaos unfolding in S6, with Dejphon Chansiri failing to pay his players and staff for May.
That issue has left the club under a transfer embargo, and if nothing is resolved very soon Wednesday could end up with a three-window transfer ban.
Not ideal by any stretch of the imagination, and fans are now predicting a bleak future for the Owls moving forward under Chansiri’s control.
There is still hope Chansiri leaves Sheffield Wednesday somehow this summer, and former manager Chris Turner has now had his say.

Chris Turner lambasts Dejphon Chansiri ownership
This week has seen even more attention and pressure piled on Chansiri, with the PFA now sending a damning message regarding the debacle at Sheffield Wednesday in support of the players affected.
And, on Wednesday night, the club’s supporter trust and other guests came together to share their feelings on the matter.
Turner said: “I’m really, really concerned about what’s happening at our club. When you look at the situation on the pitch, we’ve not got a team for next season, looks like we don’t have a manager, and we’ve sold one of the best young players in the club.
“We need this man out. He’s got to go. In any way, shape, or form, as a club, we have to do it… he’s a proud man, and it’s going to be difficult to make him go. Even if someone had the money to buy the club tomorrow, it would still be a good four-five months before that’s done.
“I think we’ll have to be patient. We all want the club to survive, to thrive, and whoever buys the club has to be the right people. We want them to come and look at the club, peel it all back, and start again.”
Talk of a takeover has been met with a mixed response by Wednesday fans, who are unsure whether Adam Shaw and his consortium are the right fit.
However, Turner has put the onus back on the supporters now to make sure the message is sent loud and clear to Chansiri that he is not welcome, and to make things difficult for the owner.
He added: “All those things Chris Wilder says about how far ahead [Sheffield United] are, he’s right. And I’m embarrassed. The support, home and away, is incredible. But that’s the one thing keeping [Chansiri] in power. If we didn’t buy season tickets and kits, he wouldn’t have any money.
“I think we have to starve him of the money. So he either has to find it or he has to go… as we’ve seen over the last ten years, he’s the worst chairman we’ve ever had.
“We’ve got to hope there’s a miracle. But where has the EFL been for the last five years? With all these embargoes and everything, where have they been? The warning signs have been there, and we now face the possibility of administration… that would be horrendous.
“But, if it is the only way he might go, we might have to drop down a few leagues and then come back stronger.”
While some have suggested administration would be a blessing for the Owls, it seems Turner doesn’t necessarily share that view. Still, he clearly doesn’t see any way forward with Chansiri at the club.
He concluded: “I told people years ago, this guy is destroying this football club… the prices are a joke. We’ve got young supporters who can’t afford to go… It’s affecting this club’s future, and let me tell you, there is no future with that guy in charge.”

What will happen to Sheffield Wednesday in the immediate future?
According to our finance expert Adam Williams, the EFL could well banish Chansiri if he fails the Owners’ and Directors’ Test. He would likely fail that, but whether they make him take the test or not is another matter.
Meanwhile, fans may well put pressure on John West and Thai Union to urge Chansiri to walk away after the companies distanced themselves from Sheffield Wednesday and their owner this week.
The problem is, it is thought any embargoes would remain even with new owners coming in, but in many ways that could be the price to pay for survival as a football club.
For Owls fans, the prospect of dissolving entirely is certainly beginning to prey on their minds. All they want now is some stability and some communication as to what’s going on. It’s not a lot to ask for, really, is it?
