The ‘incredible’ deed that Sheffield Wednesday fans have done as financial crisis continues under Chansiri

Sheffield Wednesday fans have decided to take matters into their own hands with their most recent good deed.

Sheffield Wednesday are undergoing financial difficulty, with Dejphon Chansiri still yet to pay wages for May.

Players and many of the non-playing staff are yet to receive their full payment, which has left the club under embargo.

Prospects for the upcoming season look rather bleak, with Danny Rohl seemingly trying to force an exit, whilst Sheffield Wednesday will be unable to sign players as the financial situation continues.

There is no immediate prospect of the non-playing staff being paid, with ‘emergency funding’ being put in place for some staff, which has led to Sheffield Wednesday fans doing a brilliant deed for those who need it.

Sheffield Wednesday fans raise money for non-playing staff amid Dejphon Chansiri financial issues

The prominent issue of Chansiri being unable to pay players has been overshadowed by the many non-playing staff yet to receive their payment for May.

Many will be in financial distress as a result of the events, which have led to Sheffield Wednesday fans setting up their own GoFundMe page.

The money raised will be shared across the staff who are yet to be paid for May. The total raised so far stands at £3,195.

Set up by the WTID podcast, it has been appreciated by Owls fans, with one regarding it as a ‘fantastic effort’ by a fellow supporter.

The next weeks will be crucial for Dejphon Chansiri and the club

With the May payments still yet to be settled, it won’t be too long until the staff are owed their payments for June. Things could easily get from bad to worse if Chansiri is still unable to pay the staff, something that could cause irreversible damage.

It seems that in recent years, Danny Rohl has given Wednesdayites a glimmer of hope. Before the 2024/25 season, there was optimism in and around S6, but that has all disappeared now.

Sheffield Wednesday will struggle without the ability to pay significant funds this summer for players, but you’ve got to ask, at this moment, who would join the club?

Chansiri has already done damage at this point, and no matter what it is, a solution must be found proactively.
