EFL expert expects ‘fired up’ clash in Leeds United vs Bristol City score prediction

Leeds United face Bristol City at Elland Road on Monday evening, with Daniel Farke’s side eyeing the title after gaining promotion this week.

Burnley’s 5-0 thumping away to QPR has dropped the Whites down to second ahead of kick-off, but two wins for Leeds would see them win the title due to their incredible goal difference.

For Leeds, long-term planning for the Premier League can begin. But for Farke, the Championship title is now the sole focus, and two crucial games stand in their way, starting with Bristol City before ending away at Plymouth Argyle on Saturday.

The title is no guarantee despite Leeds doing one thing ‘miles’ better than Burnley so far this season. Getting past a resolute Bristol City won’t be easy, in a game which is the Luke Ayling derby.

EFL expert Sam Parkin predicts outcome of Leeds United vs Bristol City

The last clash was a 0-0 draw at Ashton Gate, which is one of only three of that scoreline Leeds have been involved in this term. They can now take the handbrake off and play with freedom by putting on a show for their final game at Elland Road of 2024/25.

Sam Parkin is an EFL pundit for the BBC and talkSPORT, as well as being a co-commentator for Sky Sports, and he spoke to Benjamin Bloom to provide his verdict with Liam Manning heading to West Yorkshire to face Daniel Farke.

Bloom said: “This is an interesting one because it’s on a Monday night. I suppose the entire context of this game is set by what Burnley do, isn’t it?

“If Burnley go and win, we’ve got a proper title race. Either way, I think Leeds are going to win and I don’t think the silly season results will come until round 46. I think they’re the sort of team that could relax into a nice comfortable win here. 3-0 Leeds.”

Parkin responded: “Really? I don’t see that. I think Bristol City are a good side. They’ll be fired up. I think they’ll beat Preston final day if need be to get the play-offs. I think they can, probably — in terms of the maths, afford to lose this one.

“The way I see it playing out, I can see them being competitive. I’ll go for a 2-1 Leeds win.”

Bristol City’s away record could be their undoing against Leeds

The Robins are in excellent form, having lost just two of the last 13 league fixtures. That includes seven wins in that time to drag them into serious play-off contention after a 1-0 loss at home to Swansea City in February.

They remain fifth ahead of the game, too. However, their play-off place is not confirmed and their away form has held them back in pulling clear. That’s because they have won just four times on their travels all season.

Of course, their home form is therefore excellent. But Bristol City face a Preston North End side in need of points to ensure survival on final day. The game against Leeds aiming for the title is also arguably the hardest Championship fixture this season.
