EFL experts share Sheffield United vs Cardiff City score prediction as ‘ding-dong clash’ expected

All eyes will be on Chris Wilder and Sheffield United after their recent run of poor form, and Cardiff City will be looking to pile on the misery for the Blades tonight.

The Blades have gone from Championship title favourites to looking destined for the play-offs with four games to go now this season.

Their collapse has seen them lose to Oxford United, Millwall, and Plymouth Argyle within the space of a week, and United are now five points behind both Burnley and Leeds United at the top.

Suffice to say, Chris Wilder’s side are under pressure and another defeat this weekend would see their chances of automatic promotion all but dead in the water.

Meanwhile, Cardiff City are firmly stuck in the Championship relegation battle, and it’s not just the club’s fate on the line on Friday evening, with Omer Riza potentially set to lose his job if the result goes the wrong way at Bramall Lane.

Sheffield United vs Cardiff City score prediction revealed

While some have described this fixture as a ‘disaster’ waiting to happen for Cardiff, there are some glimmers of hope for the Bluebirds, most notably their away form going into the game.

But, the pairing of Simeon Gholam and David Prutton on the Sky Sports Essential EFL podcast has been discussing the game, and they can only see a Sheffield United win, even if it won’t be an easy one.

Gholam said: “It’s must win regardless for Sheffield United… they’ll have an eye on Burnley at 3pm, but if they don’t win regardless, it’ll be almost certainly the play-offs for United. For Cardiff, this is a tough trip. They have it all to play for… this is a proper ding-dong clash for both sides, it’ll be nervous… it’ll be tense.”

Prutton added: “I see United winning. I see a reaction after the Plymouth game, and an angry, combative Chris Wilder… He’s no wallflower… he knows to get the job done, and how to motivate his men.

“What he said at the weekend about Sheffield United putting themselves on the back foot and being out of the race, is maybe his way of flipping the pressure on the teams in the top two. I can see them getting back to winning ways.

“I’m going to go for Sheffield United to win 2-1.”

If that particular Sheffield United vs Cardiff City score prediction comes true, we could potentially see the Blades take on Burnley on Monday night with the chance of potentially overtaking the Clarets if results go their way.

Sheffield United will bounce back, they’ve got too much for Cardiff to handle

Surely, we won’t see Sheffield United lose four games in a row. The Blades have been relentless in grinding out results this season, but their standards have slipped lately.

But, we do not expect to see Wilder allowing that to go on any longer. Cardiff will surely give it everything they’ve got as they look to get out of this relegation mini-league they’re stuck in, but they simply don’t have the quality to overcome the Blades.

With a fired-up Wilder and a group of players eager to prove people wrong, especially at Bramall Lane, we should be looking at a fairly secure Sheffield United win.

Considering Cardiff’s miserable record against the Blades, you can put us down for a 2-0 win for the home side in this one.
