Leeds United and Swansea have had several iconic managers and players who have brought the clubs incredible success, and now a man who was involved with both clubs is looking to take his first major role within football management.
It can be difficult to get an opportunity to begin your managerial career, let alone at a side that are currently the champions in their top flight and at a club that regularly competes in Europe.
However, for one individual who played 62 EFL games across six different clubs, he has got an opportunity to take charge of the reigning Slovenian top-flight champions.
Now, Olimpija Ljubljana have taken the chance on a relatively inexperienced manager to take on their managerial role.

Federico Bessone has been appointed Olimpija Ljubljana manager
Olimpija Ljubljana took to their social media channels to announce that former Swansea City and Leeds United player, Federico Bessone, has been appointed manager of the club.
Bessone is relatively new to football management, having been appointed manager of Inter Club d’Escaldes, an Andorran club.
He has only ever been involved in management in Andorra since his retirement from football while playing for FC Andorra, who are currently owned by Gerard Pique and who play in the Spanish football pyramid.
For the 2022–23 season Bessone was manager of Atlètic Club d’Escaldes; before the 2023–24 season Bessone joined FC Santa Coloma to assist first team manager Dmitri Cheryshev, combining the roles of coaching and first team analysis.
Federico Bessone’s career in English football
The Argentine played his youth football at Barcelona before joining city rivals Espanyol for three years, spending a period of this on loan at fellow Catalan club Gimnàstic.
In 2008 Bessone would move to Wales to join Swansea City, and he would spend two years with the club before joining Leeds.
Bessone would spend two years at Leeds, where he would struggle for first-team football at the Yorkshire club, joining Charlton Athletic on loan.
| Period at club | Club | Appearances |
| 2008-10 | Swansea City | 36 |
| 2010-11 | Leeds United | 6 |
| 2010-11 | Charlton Athletic | 13 |
| 2011-12 | Swansea City | 1 |
| 2012-13 | Swindon Town | 5 |
| 2012-13 | Oldham Athletic | 0 |
| 2013-14 | Millwall | 1 |
He would then move to Swindon Town, where he would continue to struggle for first-team chances before joining Oldham Athletic.
In 2013 he would return to England to join Millwall, making only one appearance after returning from the MLS.
This would be his last club in England before moving back to Catalunya and Andorra to see out his career.
