A former Football League legend who made over 1,000 career appearances as an outfield player has been sacked as a manager.
Having played for the likes of Norwich City, Colchester United, Queens Park Rangers and others, he managed to score just under 400 goals.
While his former strike partner Grant Holt returned to Norwich as a youth coach, he is looking for a new job.

Jamie Cureton sacked by Cambridge City
Jamie Cureton has been sacked as manager of Cambridge City.
Cureton had been in charge of the club since the start of the 2024/25 season, but a poor start to the league as well as an early FA Cup exit resulted in his dismissal.
In a statement on Wednesday 17 September, they said: “Following a disappointing start to the season, Cambridge City FC can confirm that Jamie Cureton has been relieved of his duties as First Team Manager.
“With the clear aim of pushing for the play-offs this season, the club backed Jamie in the summer to strengthen the squad. However, an early exit from the FA Cup to lower-league opposition for the second successive season, combined with a disappointing run of results in the league, has left us in the bottom four with four points from a possible 21.
“The Board has therefore taken the difficult decision to make a change. We believe that, if we are to achieve our ambition of securing a play-off place, it is imperative to act quickly and bring in a new manager who can offer a fresh approach for the remainder of the campaign.”
Jamie Cureton holds a special Football League record
After coming through the ranks at Carrow Road, the striker-turned-manager gained a reputation for being a proven goal scorer.
He announced his retirement from professional football on 7 October 2023, but then returned to action as a player-manager, hanging up his boots for good on 21 April 2025 at the age of 45.
His career is unlike most and he was one of eight outfield players to have made more than 1,000 career appearances in the Football League.
As for the rest of the world, Cureton has the 25th highest career appearances, with number one being Peter Shilton with 1,387 games.
