Sheffield United were tipped to be challenging for promotion to the Premier League, however, the Blades have lacked any sort of cutting edge and seem more likely to be heading for League One.
Ruben Selles’ side have lost every game this season and are rooted to the bottom of the Championship table.
| Position | Team | Played MP | Won W | Drawn D | Lost L | For GF | Against GA | Diff GD | Points Pts |
| 22 | 4 | 0 | 1 | 3 | 4 | 7 | -3 | 1 | |
| 23 | 4 | 0 | 1 | 3 | 3 | 9 | -6 | 1 | |

Things have started that badly that Sheffield United fans are already calling for Selles to be sacked.
While they won’t give up hopes of promotion this season, one former staff member has taken a shortcut to get to the top flight.

Brentford appoint Jack Lester as new coach
Jack Lester left the Blades after the appointment of Selles at Bramall Lane due to the former Reading and Hull City manager bringing in his own staff.
Lester, a former Chesterfield bagsman in his playing days, has now landed a new job with Brentford as a first-team coach.
Brentford manager Keith Andrews confirmed his arrival in a post on the Bees’ official website, adding: “This is a position we’ve been keen to fill for some time. We’ve discussed the role with Jack during these last few weeks and, as a club, we feel that he is the right person for this job.”
It is the first new role for Lester since he joined his boyhood club in 2019 to help develop academy players before becoming a first-team coach.
Why did Keith Andrews appoint Jack Lester as Sheffield United coach?
Andrews and Lester have a little bit of history after briefly working together at the Blades.
This is the Irishman’s first job in management and along with Lester, their first crack at the top flight as a duo.
As for Sheffield United, they are hoping to get their first win of the season against Ipswich Town on Friday night.
