Henrik Pedersen has outlined a ‘big goal’ he wants to achieve as Sheffield Wednesday manager.

It has been a tough summer in Yorkshire, with Sheffield Wednesday fans unhappy with Dejphon Chansiri’s ownership.

Protests are planned for the Stoke City fixture this week, where Henrik Pedersen will be looking to secure his first league victory as manager.

After Danny Rohl left Sheffield Wednesday, Pedersen stepped up from his coaching role and recently helped the Owls beat Bolton Wanderers on penalties in the Carabao Cup.

Now the manager has been discussing a goal he wants to achieve while he is in charge.

Henrik Pedersen has ‘big goal’ at Sheffield Wednesday

The Bolton clash ended 3-3 after 90 minutes, with Wednesday going on to win the shootout 4-2.

During normal time, Ike Ugbo scored his first goal for the club in nearly a year, last finding the net on August 27, 2024, versus Grimsby Town.

The centre-forward did not find the back of the net once in the last Championship season.

But as per The Star, Pedersen has a ‘big goal’ to turn Ugbo into a top striker for Sheffield Wednesday.

He said: “I have a big goal that we bring Ugbo to a top feeling and he can be a really good striker for us again.

“He is working very, very hard at this. I have a big hope and I also have a big belief that we can go in the right direction again.”

Henrik Pedersen’s transfer plans

The new Sheffield Wednesday manager is going to need previously fringe players like Ugbo to step up, given their reduced squad this season.

The Owls can’t sign players until Chansiri can satisfy the EFL that wages can be paid, but work is still being done behind the scenes.

We shared an update on Pedersen’s transfer plans this week via Graeme Bailey, who told us: “I think they are more inclined to look at loans first, as they need to be done before deadline day. The free agents can wait, in a way.

“One big thing as well is that Sheffield Wednesday can probably offer first-team football consistently to these players, but at the same time not many people know what Henrik Pedersen’s style of football is going to be. It’s going to be an interesting few weeks.”
