Following Hull City’s last-minute winner against Oxford United, one Tigers ace sent a dig towards the opposition on social media.
Hull City have notched their first competitive win under new boss Sergej Jakirovic.
After a hectic opening stanza, it looked as though the Tigers would have to settle for a point until Hull City signing Oli McBurnie bagged in the final minutes against Oxford United.
It was a well-needed victory for Jakirovic’s side amid the uncertainty of their financial status, with Hull City awaiting a decision from the EFL as to whether their transfer fee restrictions will be relaxed or even removed.
Within the celebrations, one Hull City player took to social media, where he sent a subtle dig towards Oxford United, noting the winning goal from talisman McBurnie.

What Hull City star Joel Ndala said following last-minute winner vs Oxford United
Hull City signed Oli McBurnie this summer following his departure from Las Palmas, and his arrival has already made a significant difference at the MKM Stadium.
He bagged a goal on his first start in the midweek EFL Cup trip to Wrexham, and has now made it two-in-two starts for the Tigers after his winner against Oxford United.
Following the game, McBurnie took to Instagram, where he wrote the caption: “You really can’t beat a last-minute winner. Boys were brilliant today and deserved the 3 points!! See you next week, Tigers.”
Fellow teammates showed their support for the goalscoring Scotsman, as Hull City captain wrote ‘Love this’, whilst Liam Miller left a message that said ‘unreal you’.
Joel Ndala also praised the Hull City striker with a subtle dig towards Oxford United, where he wrote: “They got McBurnied.”

Oli McBurnie has already transformed Hull City
There is no hiding the fact that the 2024/25 season was far from a success for Hull City. To go from a play-off chasing, exciting outfit the year before to then be the lowest goalscorers in the Championship was a major issue.
As a result, it made this summer’s transfer business make-or-break for Acun Ilicali, who brought in the assured knowledge of Jared Dublin, the Head of Recruitment, to help rebuild the squad.
Doubts had been cast over Hull City and their ability to transform their attacking options, especially with the fee restriction, but they have done incredibly well to recruit what they need, especially with Oli McBurnie.
Hull City have lacked a goalscorer for some time, and now it feels that McBurnie has finally filled that void at the club.
