EFL Analysis has gained an insight into what Jack Wilshere’s camp thought about him becoming the new Norwich City manager and can confirm he will be leaving the club.
Norwich City had a positive start to the season, but after a dip in form, Johannes Hoff Thorup was relieved of his duties in late April.
Jack Wilshere then took temporary charge of the club, overseeing a 0-0 draw against Middlesbrough and a 4-2 win over Cardiff City on the final day.
It was understood that Norwich’s hierarchy were feeling good about Wilshere and the work he was doing.
However, means that the former Arsenal man will not become the Canaries’ next permanent boss.

Jack Wilshere set to leave Norwich City
John Percy of the Telegraph reported on Friday that Wilshere will not become the new manager of the club after a conversation with the club’s hierarchy.
He wrote: “Norwich City have informed Jack Wilshere that he is not in contention for the role as permanent head coach. Norwich will look to make an external appointment and the process is ongoing.”
EFL Analysis has since gained an insight into the situation, with the Englishman now set to depart Carrow Road.
We understand that his camp were confident and believed Wilshere had done enough to get the job, and whilst not offered it, thought they were getting it – especially considering the player reaction to him, which has been hugely positive.
EFL can also confirm that Wilshere is leaving the club altogether after being informed he will not become Norwich’s next permanent manager.
Ben Knapper comments on Jack Wilshere
Following the news that he will not be getting the job, sporting director Ben Knapper has shared his verdict on Wilshere.
Speaking to BBC Sport, he praised the Englishman and backed him to be a great coach.
He said: “Jack is a fantastic person, he and I have a big history together.
“He’s a great coach and will be a fantastic head coach, but that’s not going to be here at this particular moment in time.”
Knapper also said that Norwich will be eyeing an external replacement for Thorup.
