Leeds United celebrated promotion on Monday night in style by hammering Bristol City 4-0 at Elland Road.

It was a lively affair, with champagne and confetti cannons for the last home game of the season, where Leeds got to do something they haven’t since 1990.

With Premier League football confirmed for the Yorkshire side next season, it initiates questions about players that will soon be out of contract.

One player in particular is set to be out of contract by summer and Leeds’ Largie Ramazani wants him to stay.

Ramazani’s two goals versus Bristol left Leeds fans asking why the ‘insane’ talent hasn’t been used more this season.

But one of his goals came around thanks to Leeds full-back, Junior Firpo who provided yet another assist.

As Ramazani posted on Instagram to share his best bits from Monday night, Firpo replied: “Some player.”

Ramazani cheekily replied, keen to weigh in on Firpo’s present situation.: “Sign the ting!”

Hinting that a contract extension could be on the table for Firpo if he wishes to stay at Elland Road.

Firpo’s performances this season certainly deserve a discussion about whether he should stay.

His last term in the Premier League saw him blunder a lot defensively, but he has made much improvement since then.

With him adding to Leeds’ defensive solidarity this season, becoming a more reliable presence for the Yorkshire side.

With Leeds likely looking to rebuild going into the Premier League, it is going to require a lot of new talent.

This means it might be in Leeds’ best interest to sign Firpo up to a new deal so they have one less squad position to worry about.

It could have been the last time Firpo makes an outing at Elland Road, but it remains to be seen if he will depart this summer.

As of yet, there has been little suggestion that the £13million signing from Barcelona is expected to put pen to paper on a new deal.

Firpo has made a huge contribution of assists despite his full-back position this season.

No other defender has recorded more assists in the Championship this season, surpassing Championship Player of the Season Gustavo Hamer.

He also boasts 14 direct goal contributions in the league, with 4 goals and 10 assists.

It’s undeniable Firpo has played a vital role in Leeds United’s promotion charge, and while his future at the club is still up in the air, he has earned his place in the team to be considered for a contract extenstion.

He also aimed a cheeky dig at the EFL Championship Team of the Season, after being left out despite his stellar record this season.

Instead of him Sheffield United’s Harrison Burrows was selected as left-back and Firpo couldn’t help but take a swipe.

After Leeds’ victory versus Bristol City, he called himself the “second-best left-back in the league.”

It’s cheeky but it does show he knows he has improved and become a Leeds stalwart, and he will be hoping to continue his fine form versus Plymouth Argyle on the last day of the season.
