Leeds United have officially shown off the first renders of the new Elland Road, and supporters are gleaming at what their home is set to look like in the next few years.
The Whites have played their football in LS11 since they were established in 1913, and while it has modernised over the course of the last few decades, the next steps are being made to take the club to the next level.
That includes increasing the capacity of the stadium to approximately 53,000, with the current iteration of Elland Road able to host 37,645 spectators for games such as Leeds’ clash against Bristol City.
It’s the first time that any images have been shared of the proposed changes, and fans have flocked to social media to praise Leeds for their vision.

Leeds United fans share their first impressions of the new Elland Road
As per the club’s website (leedsunited.com), Leeds City Council’s Executive Board agreed unanimously on the plans to regenerate the historical ground last week.
Now the first steps have been taken in changing the club’s home for the future as Councillors get set to discuss the pre-application for the modernisation on May 8.
With Elland Road often praised for its atmosphere, such an iconic and historical venue, significant care has been taken by those in charge of the development plans to ensure that the ground does not lose any of its original feel and atmosphere.
Their plans looked to have paid off, with Leeds supporters taking to X to praise the club following the first images.
One fan wrote: “Like that. Anfield-esque.”
A third fan said: “Yep, smashed it. Keeps the heart of the stadium and gives us the capacity desperately needed to push forward.
“Looks great, definitely still has a feel of Elland Road while being bigger and more modern,” added another supporter.
Leeds’ ambitions are clear to see with Elland Road developments
The Whites’ position in the Premier League has already been confirmed following their incredible 6-0 win over Stoke City in gameweek 44, and with their battle against Burnley for the title set to go to the final day, it is obvious that a return to the Championship is not where the club sees its future.

Leeds are showing ambition with this new project, and while some supporters will be disappointed to see Elland Road lose its current feel, to go to that next level they have to find other ways to bring in revenue.
The Whites have the second-highest average attendance in the Championship in 2024/25, with only Sunderland recording more and supporters will flock back in August once top-flight football returns to West Yorkshire.
The second tier may never see Elland Road in this form again if everything is approved next week, and the club may just be entering a brand new era, despite warnings over the difficulty of the Premier League for Leeds.
