Leeds United host Bristol City at Elland Road tonight, with plenty at stake for both sides on the penultimate game of the season.
Bristol City could seal their play-off spot against Leeds. Liam Manning’s side are looking to join Leeds and Burnley in the Premier League next season, but the Whites are eyeing the title after they celebrated promotion in style.

Promotion itself is a huge benefit financially but the Championship title still up for grabs and Leeds need to win to reclaim their place at the summit. Anything can happen in football, but the majority of neutrals will be expecting a home win in the Luke Ayling derby.
Leeds have been backed to win by Sam Parkin, with most punters expecting them to keep pace with Burnley after Scott Parker’s side demolished QPR 5-0 away from home.

Leeds’ phenomenal home record against Bristol City
The Whites have the best home record in the league, with just one defeat to Burnley in September to speak of. Only Birmingham City have better form at home than Leeds.
Including last season, Leeds have lost just three games in the league at Elland Road, with nine draws and a mammoth 33 wins from their 45 games in the Championship — not including play-off matches.
| Position | Club | Played | Wins | Draws | Losses | Goal Difference | Points |
| 1 | Leeds United | 22 | 17 | 4 | 1 | +45 | 55 |
| 2 | Burnley | 22 | 13 | 9 | 0 | +25 | 48 |
| 3 | Sheffield United | 22 | 15 | 3 | 4 | +16 | 48 |
| 4 | Bristol City | 22 | 13 | 6 | 3 | +16 | 45 |
One of the issues Bristol City will need to overcome to take anything from Elland Road is a truly terrible historic record against Leeds as well, especially during more recent years of playing in the second tier.
But it is also exceptional from Leeds’ perspective dating back 46 years now, spanning ten games in that period. Since 1979, they have won every home game against Bristol City bar one.
It means the Robins have lost eight of their past nine away games against Leeds, with their last draw coming in February 2018. The majority of those are league games, with just one cup tie in 1997 to speak of.
Of teams to have faced Bristol City on more than 20 occasions, only Wolves, Everton, West Ham, and Aston Villa have a better record than Leeds’. They have just a 20% win rate over Leeds.
Swindon Town are the only team Leeds have played 20 times or more who they have a better record against than Bristol City. It’s a true bogey team for the Robins and, by contrast, one of Leeds’ favourite opponents.

Leeds’ Team of the Season omissions sting
Leeds have a number of players who could have made it into the Championship Team of the Season in last night’s EFL awards, but it appears as though a three-player maximum per club has seen notable players miss out.
Ao Tanaka, Jayden Bogle, and Dan James are arguably the team’s three best players this term. Their consistency and performances have dragged Leeds and Daniel Farke to promotion at times.
However, Joe Rodon, Junior Firpo, Manor Solomon, and even Joel Piroe can count themselves as somewhat unfortunate. Rodon and Firpo, in particular, can feel hard done by — such has been their quality in recent months.
- GK: James Trafford
- RB: Jayden Bogle
- CB: CJ Egan-Riley
- CB: Maxime Esteve
- LB: Harrison Burrows
- CM: Ao Tanaka
- CM: Jobe Bellingham
- RW: Dan James
- AM: Gus Hamer
- LW: Borja Sainz
- CF: Josh Sargent
Instead, many players who did make it in can feel fortunate. The team could easily have been comprised of numerous Burnley and Leeds players without many other clubs included at all. The EFL Championship Team of the Year is shown above.
