Leicester City fans are left in shock as academy graduate extends deal until 2029

Leicester City have announced that academy graduate Luke Thomas has extended his stay with the Foxes until 2029.

Thomas, who made his senior debut in the Premier League back in 2020, has been an ever-present for the club this season and is Marti Cifuentes’ go-to left-back choice.

The 24-year-old’s new contract was formally announced on Friday, but the reaction to the news has been mixed.

Having one of your own extend their stay is usually a sign to be positive, but not everyone seemed too keen.

Luke Thomas’ first words after signing new Leicester contract

Speaking to the club’s media channels after completing the deal, the Foxes full-back told the club website: “I’m really happy to sign a new deal at this club.

“It’s a club that I’ve been at since I was very young, so I’m happy to have another four years here and hopefully more to come after that.

“It’s the team I’ve supported since I was born, really. My dad has brought me up to support Leicester City.”
