Leicester City fans have made up their mind on Ruud van Nistelrooy, John Rudkin must act now

Despite an abysmal showing in the Premier League last season, Ruud van Nistelrooy is still in a job at Leicester City and fans are getting restless.

Admittedly, Leicester did show some signs of life in the latter stages of the 2024/25 campaign but that was after a run of just one win in 15 games prior to May.

The Foxes now head back to the Championship, equipped with parachute payments but facing the prospect of one of the biggest points deductions in EFL history due to financial breaches.

Among all that chaos, Ruud van Nistelrooy still doesn’t know whether he will be Leicester manager in 2025/26, with plenty of rumours suggesting other candidates are being considered for his job.

Ruud van Nistelrooy should be given a chance at Leicester

Now, after all this time of talk, with Danny Rohl touted for the job, Russell Martin reportedly snubbing Leicester, and a slew of other managers thought to be in the running, it seems fans have had enough.

Taking to Twitter/X to discuss the situation, one Leicester supporter wrote: “Could just keep [van Nistelrooy] and back him and give him an actual chance but no… Let’s waste two months and sack him in July and have no time to bring in a manager and reinforcements.”

Others replied, “I have always said to give him a chance with the youngsters… otherwise we are time wasting,” and “Agreed. If we don’t sack him, then let him have a fighting chance.”

Elsewhere, fans were panicking about the alternative, with one writing: “At this rate there won’t be anybody in place for the start of the new season which is only eight weeks away, with the squad and probable points deduction up in the air.”

Another added, “We are becoming a bit of a joke club. Might as well keep him now and let him bring the young players through and bring in players that he wants.”

It seems the finger of blame is pointing at the Leicester hierarchy, with one fan tweeting: “Sack [John] Rudkin now and we might actually get some decisiveness and structure back in our club.”

Leicester City silence is causing unrest

Clearly, Leicester fans just want a decision one way or another. The same goes for a lot of things at the club, actually, with Foxes supporters growing uneasy with the silence from the club’s chiefs this summer.

As things stand, there has still been no acknowledgement from the club regarding relegation or any kind of statement from the owners about where it all went wrong last season.

We know Leicester’s transfer plans depend on the manager situation, but there has been very little mention of which players will be staying at the club (aside from the new contract for Jeremy Monga).

Even slightly smaller things like the Leicester kit for next season and announcements of any friendlies have been notably absent this summer.

Often, fans will get far more angry when nothing is said. Even if it’s bad news, communication is key, and Leicester are failing in that department right now.
