Marti Cifuentes has got his feet under the table at Leicester City now and his next task will be to sort his squad out.

Cifuentes has promised a ‘fearless’ style of football and the Foxes boss already has several players well-suited to that.

However, with Leicester’s owners King Power in financial trouble, a number of key players could be on their way out.

Asmir Begovic is in talks about joining the Foxes since first-choice ‘keeper Mads Hermansen is wanted by West Ham United but the chances of securing a reunion with another Queens Park Rangers star is unlikely.

Rayan Kolli unlikely to be approached by Leicester

Following Jamie Vardy’s departure at the end of the season, Leicester need a striker and there had been murmurings about Rayan Kolli being a possible target for the Foxes.

Kolli was described as an “excellent player” by Cifuentes after scoring a brace in a 3-0 win against Norwich City.

The 20-year-old was handed his senior debut by Cifuentes but, EFL Analysis’ Chief Football Correspondent Graeme Bailey believes that a reunion is unlikely.

“QPR like him. They’re rating him really high. I think it’d be very, very difficult for Leicester to get him out.

“Obviously, Ilias Chair is being moved centrally by Julien Stephan as well. So, I think there’s a real chance that Kolli gets a run out wide. I think it would be very difficult for Leicester to get him out.”

Marti Cifuentes wants to trim the Leicester squad

Before the Foxes make any signings, players will need to leave the King Power Stadium to balance the books.

A number of stars are on high-profile wages and Cifuentes told BBC Radio Leicester that he would need to get some of them off the books.

“We have a big squad,” he said.

“It’s 32 players and we need to trim this. The transfer window is still open.

“What I know for sure is I don’t like to work with very big squads. We need enough to rotate but we will need to trim what we have now.”
