Middlesbrough signed David Strelec just before the closure of the deadline day, with the Slovakian international leaving Slovan Bratislava to join the Teesside club.
Fans are yet to see the striker wear the red and white of Middlesbrough, as the international break came up before he could play in the Championship; however, keen supporters would have been interested to see if their club had signed a star or a dud.
They have now got their answer after his performance against Germany in the World Cup qualifiers, as the four-time winners of the competition suffered a surprise defeat to Slovakia.

Fans give their verdict on David Strelec
David Strelec had a massive part to play in the 2-0 win over Germany for Slovakia, scoring one and setting up another; however, it was the goal that caught the attention of everyone.
The striker fired a shot into the top corner of the goal from a tight angle past the German keeper. Due to restrictions and copyright, the video of the goal can’t be shared in this article; however, plenty of Middlesbrough fans saw the goal and have gone into meltdown about it.
One fan is excited about the prospect of the international in the Championship, as they said: “We have a mouthwatering squad this season; if he can do that against Rudiger then he can do that in the Championship all season long.”
Another fan must have been part of the scouting department, as they said: “Seen him do the exact finish on his goals reel. Not only can he finish, but he also has supreme vision. Assisted the first goal with a run into the channel and put another great pass into Sauer’s path. Strong and not afraid to take punishment from tough defenders. Looks so good.”
Middlesbrough fans appear to be enthralled with the striker’s quality and are astonished by the club’s ability to sign him.
One fan said: “Serious question, how on earth have you managed to sign him?”
There were a few fans looking pessimistically at the striker and Middlesbrough, though, as one said: “We are going to sell him for 20 million in January, aren’t we?”
However, the overall sentiment was incredibly positive regarding the player, soon to be in the red and white of Middlesbrough.
David Strelec agreeing to join Middlesbrough
The signing of David Strelec was not an easy one, as they had to beat off competition from Celtic to confirm the deal; however, it appeared he only ever wanted to join Middlesbrough.
Celtic were desperate to add a striker to their squad, and this is ever more present now they have sold Adam Idah to Swansea City, with the club only having two out-and-out strikers.
Middlesbrough and their fans won’t care about that, as they have landed the clearly talented Strelec.
Rob Edwards had to be patient to land the striker, and it remains to be seen if he will go straight into the squad due to the form of Tommy Conway, who got an apology from Scotland manager Steve Clarke about not being selected for international duty.
