The marquee Championship fixture pitted two promotion hopefuls, Covetrny City and Burnely, against one another.
After Middlesbrough beat Blackburn Rovers on Friday evening, Coventry City slipped down the Championship table into sixth.
They were only above West Bromwich Albion via goal difference going into Saturday, so they had to win to guarantee they remained inside the top six come next week.
As for Burnley, their automatic promotion chances have been boosted now it looks as though Leeds United are falling apart again.
In turn, a win for the Clarets would have moved them into first place and put huge pressure on Daniel Farke’s men.
When all was said and done, Burnley beat Coventry, in no small part due to some questionable defening.

Middlesbrough fans thank Coventry City after Burnley loss
Jaidon Anthony scored Burnley’s second of the day, following on from a mix up at the back involving Bradley Collins.
It was an odd goal to concede and prompted a number of Middlesbrough fans to take to social media and thank/mock Coventry for losing.
One fan wrote: “@Coventry_City nice one lads.”
Another mocked: “What in the Middlesbrough Football Club is this,” followed by three crying emojis.
A third questioned: “When did Ayling and Dieng sign for Coventry?”
A fourth responded to the second goal: “Coventry and West Brom losing,” followed by a video of Tommy Conway celebrating.
“Hahahah, cheers lads,” another Middlesbrough supporter wrote.

Middlesbrough and Coventry City clash could be massive
The result leaves the Sky Blues below Boro in the league table with just six matches left to play.
It’s still incredibly tight around the top six, and a lot could happen between now and May, making their pair’s upcoming meeting a major one.
Coventry are next in action against Portsmouth on Wednesday, with two huge games to play after that.
They face West Brom on April 18 before a final-day clash against Middlesbrough on May 3.
