Middlesbrough have made an excellent start to the season, and after fears that they had not strengthened enough over the summer, Rob Edwards has his team firing in the Championship.
Following a disciplined 1-0 win over Swansea City, Boro were looking for a reaction to their heavy 4-0 defeat to Doncaster Rovers in the Carabao Cup in mid-week and they got exactly that on Saturday with a superb 3-0 away victory over Millwall.
Alex Neil took responsibility for the extent of the loss, but the Teessiders were ruthless in their approach as they scored all three of their goals in the second-half to take the points with them to the north-east.
However, it’s been a good few days not only for Middlesbrough themselves, but also for one of their club legends who has secured himself a new job.

Middlesbrough favourite George Boateng takes charge of Belgian third tier side
George Boateng is a hero to those on Teesside, with the 49-year-old making 222 appearances for Boro during his time at the club between 2002 and 2008.

He played a crucial role in helping Middlesbrough reach the 2006 UEFA Cup (Europa League) final, although he could do nothing to deny Sevilla the trophy as they ran out 4-0 winners at the Philips Stadion in the Netherlands.
Nevertheless, he is still fondly remembered by those at the Riverside, and supporters will be delighted to see him get his first management job. He has taken charge of Belgian third tier side RAEC Mons for the 2025/26 campaign.
He was most recently the assistant manager at Coventry City, and he worked under Mark Robins until November 2024 after Frank Lampard was hired by the Sky Blues.

George Boateng showed an interest in the Blackburn Rovers vacancy in February
Boateng has been trying to get his break in management for a number of months, and back in February, he was in pursuit of the vacancy at Blackburn Rovers after John Eustace joined Derby County.
TalkSPORT reported that alongside Arsenal icon Luis Boa Morte, the former Middlesbrough midfielder was set to be interviewed by Rovers.

However, Valerien Ismael was the man to take charge at Ewood Park. After a tough start, he got Blackburn back on track at the end of last season. However, they have lost both of their opening games.
Nevertheless, Boateng will be extremely pleased to get his chance as a head coach, and Middlesbrough fans will be keeping an eye on his progress.
