Mirko Topic reveals the role Norwich City teammate played in £3m transfer

Norwich City have managed to add midfielder Mirko Topic to their ranks.

Topic has joined from Portuguese outfit Famalicao in a deal worth £3m and is Liam Manning’s ninth addition of the summer.

A Serbian expert has backed Topic to be a success at Carrow Road and thanks to the help of one teammate already in Anglia, the midfielder was left with no doubts about joining.

Mirko Topic credits new teammate for Norwich move

The 24-year-old was announced by Norwich on Sunday night where it was confirmed that he had signed a four-year deal.

Speaking to the club’s social media channels, Topic revealed that fellow summer signing Vladan Kovacevic played in order to convince him to join.

He said: “I’m very proud to now be a part of this club and this city.

“I spoke to Vladan a couple of weeks ago, and also the coach and sporting director. They convinced me to come when they showed me the goals and ambitions for this season.

“I didn’t have any doubts about joining.”

This is the second person that the Norwich ‘keeper knows well as Kovacevic also knows Ante Crnac from their time at Polish side Rakow Czestochowa.

What shirt number will Mirko Topic wear at Norwich City

Topic will be handed the number 22 shirt at Carrow Road, as confirmed by the club themselves.

He has been given the same number worn by club legend Teemu Pukki.

Others who have also worn the shirt include Nathan Redmond and Chris Sutton so Topic knows he will be in esteemed company.
