New Derby County signing gives one-word description of John Eustace, now it’s clear why he moved to Pride Park

Derby County have had a very busy start to July.

The Rams announced three new signings on Tuesday, with the trio joining Carlton Morris as the new boys on the block at Pride Park.

After EFL Analysis revealed in June that Derby were keen to keep hold of Liam Thompson, he also signed a new contract and John Eustace’s squad is starting to take shape with the players back in training ahead of the new season.

Bringing in Championship experience has been the main aim in this early part of the summer transfer window and their head coach has done exactly that – with one of his new signings full of praise for the 45-year-old.

Danny Batth’s one-word description of Derby County’s John Eustace

Danny Batth was the first of the three new signings to be announced on 1 July, with the centre-back signing a one-year deal with the Rams after leaving Blackburn Rovers.

Eustace signed the 34-year-old last summer for the Lancashire outfit, and he played a key role at Ewood Park as Rovers just missed out on a play-off spot.

Now in black-and-white, Derby’s social team asked the former Wolverhampton Wanderers man to describe his boss in just one word, and it is clear to see Batth’s respect for the head coach, calling him ‘outstanding’.

The John Eustace factor is a huge pull for the Rams

After Paul Warne was sacked by the Rams and replaced by Eustace in February, the club have been on an upward trajectory and there is a real buzz around DE24 heading into the new season.

Derby are still waiting on investment, but they are chasing a big deal for Patrick Agyemang and if they can get that over the line then it is a huge statement to the rest of the division. The head coach has a pull that few others do in the second tier and his track-record makes him a huge asset.

While Batth and Andreas Weimann are not the huge-money moves that supporters will be all over, they both bring qualities that are not yet present in the squad and their desire to play for Eustace once again is clear to see.
