Plymouth Argyle are set to face competition from a fellow League One side, both of which are keen to appoint a third-tier coach.
After being handed relegation on the final day of the 2024/25 Championship season, Plymouth Argyle are now preparing for life in League One.
It looked as though Miron Muslic would remain at the club, however, he backtracked and decided to join German giants Schalke.
The Plymouth chairman slammed Muslic for his decision to leave the club, but rather than sitting and feeling sorry for themselves, the Pilgrims are already in search of their next coach.
The vacancy at Home Park will be revered, and one former League One boss has already thrown his hat into the ring. However, he could also find himself at fellow relegated Championship side Cardiff City ahead of the 2025/26 season.

Former Bolton Wanderers boss Ian Evatt set for ‘fighting chance’ over Plymouth Argyle job
With Muslic out of the door at Home Park, all attentions turn towards finding a suitable replacement, to which Ian Evatt could be the man.
Former Bolton Wanderers coach Evatt reportedly has a ‘fighting chance’ at the Pilgrims job, per Alan Nixon on Patreon.
Evatt has previous with the Head of Football Operations, David Fox, at Plymouth Argyle, something that could improve his chances of attaining the top job.
If Plymouth were to go for Evatt, they may face competition from fellow League One side Cardiff City, who have also reportedly shortlisted him for their vacancy.

Ian Evatt’s record in League One
Evatt has plenty of experience at this level, having notched four League One seasons with Bolton Wanderers.
After guiding them to promotion from League Two, Evatt helped them reach 73 and 81 points in the following respective League One seasons, the second of which Bolton finished in the play-offs, but went out in the semi-finals.
Evatt endured yet another successful season with Bolton in the 2023/24 season, guiding them to the play-off final, only to lose to Oxford United at the final hurdle.
Only this season did Evatt endure any severe difficulties, having been sacked with Bolton sitting in 11th place with the potential of a play-off finish diminishing.
Whilst Plymouth will undoubtedly continue to observe their options, Evatt’s record suggests that he could be a fine addition at this level.
