Plymouth Argyle’s world was rocked after they were informed by manager Miron Muslic that he wanted to leave the club.
Muslic was tipped to take Plymouth back to the Championship after the Pilgrims were relegated to League One.
The decision to replace Wayne Rooney with Muslic proved to be popular, with the Argyle boss claiming they’d have avoided relegation if he had been in charge for the whole season.
Argyle were set to get ready to compete in the third tier under the 42-year-old until a statement from the club revealed that he had opened talks with an 2. Bundesliga side, which is believed to be Schalke.
In the statement, Plymouth said that Muslic had expressed his desire to be closer to family but the club were evidently frustrated after implementing ‘clear structures’ to benefit the manager.
News of his imminent departure was initially one of shock to Argyle fans, but it quickly turned to anger.

Plymouth Argyle fans react to Miron Muslic departure
Supporters were quick to vent their anger with one fan briefly changing his Wikipedia page to read “Plymouth snake is an Austrian-Bosnian professional football manager and former player”.
Meanwhile, @JUTS1 wrote on X: “Laughable! He was a gamble on our part which didn’t pay off, so why does he have all the cards? Another talker who can’t back up what he says. Give the job to Kev & Joe at least they are loyal and the fans have their backs.”
@lwestlake7 added: “Same old Argyle getting shafted again! We are just a business! Fans get treated bad! We have no plan or structure it’s just all talk! Why on earth would you have a release clause in his contract! It was obvious he wanted just 6 months to see if he would be super man!”
@tildesley_12 stated: “The circus continues…”
@james_clement5 commented: “This football club is a social experiment to see how much pain a group of people can withstand.”
Squeeze_85 also said: “So much for running through brick walls. Jumped at the first opportunity.”
Miron Muslic has contradicted himself to Plymouth Argyle fans
Loyalty in football is hard to come by these days, and just six months after his appointment, Plymouth will now be looking for his replacement.
There’s no denying that Schalke is a bigger club – even Plymouth fans will admit that – but the frustration has come from the Muslic contradicting his comments where he “committed” his future to the club.
In an X post on May 1, he claimed he had “fallen in love with the football club” before adding: “I care for Argyle and the Green Army and how committed I am to the club and its future. I want the best for Argyle.”
