Sheffield United may be struggling now, but one of their biggest fans is a Ryder Cup champion.
The 2025 Ryder Cup was won by Team Europe after they beat Team USA 15-13 following the threat of a comeback from the American side.
It has been quite a different story for the Blades though, who have been performing way below par.
Chris Wilder finally guided Sheffield United to their first win of the season with a 1-0 victory against Oxford United.
They may have been inspired by one boyhood Blades fan, who played his part in a successful Ryder Cup achievement.

Ryder Cup winner Matt Fitzpatrick is a boyhood Sheffield United fan
Matt Fitzpatrick would’ve had one eye on the scoreline at the Kassam Stadium while playing his part in the Ryder Cup.
It was his first time competing for Team Europe, but Fitzpatrick has admitted that football is his first love and Blades are his pride and joy.
He told BBC Sport: “People think it’s a joke but I love football way more than golf. I’m obsessed with football. It’s brilliant for me.
“I love supporting Sheffield United, over here in the States they show every game I could wish to see, which is amazing.”
Original Ryder Cup trophy was made in Sheffield
The Steel City may be best known for Sheffield United and their fierce rivals Sheffield Wednesday, but the Ryder Cup has plenty of connections to the city too.
In fact, the original trophy was commissioned by English seed merchant Samuel Ryder and created by Mappin & Webb Co.
It cost them £250 at the time, which equates to over £13,000 in today’s money with Ryder, Golf Illustrated magazine and the St Andrews golf club all split the cost it took to make.
