‘Sadly’… Sheffield Wednesday fans are all saying the same thing after cryptic Danny Rohl interview

Sheffield Wednesday fans were all in agreement over Danny Rohl’s post-match interview following the draw to Watford.

In the final day of the 2024/25 Championship season, Sheffield Wednesday drew away at Watford.

Danny Rohl’s first game in charge of Sheffield Wednesday after taking over from Xisco Munoz was a trip to Vicarage Road, and the German has gone full circle as he ends the current season at the same place with the Owls, in a game that could be his last on the touchline for the club.

Rohl’s future at Sheffield Wednesday has been in the air for some time, with the German attracting clubs because of the fine job he has conducted in S6. In recent weeks, a likely departure of Rohl from Sheffield Wednesday appears very much more evident, with his recent post-match interview suggesting that he could be nearing the exit, something that supporters have all agreed on.

Sheffield Wednesday supporters believe that Dejphon Chansiri is to blame as Danny Rohl departure looks more likely

Following the 1-1 draw against Watford, Sheffield Wednesday boss Rohl appeared to be in a sombre mood when conducting his final interview of the season, via BBC Sheffield.

As part of an eight-minute interview, Rohl notably said: “I will not forget this place. It doesn’t matter what happens now. To have such a relationship, such a belief, such a hope, such a respectful togetherness… it will be part of the bottom of my heart.”

Fans were all in agreement that the German has such an admiration for the club, but, ultimately, the actions of Dejphon Chansiri may have steered him towards pastures new.

Taking to social media, one fan said: “It’s clear to me from this that Danny would like to stay, BUT, he needs a clear commitment from DC that he will put in place the changes needed to take us (and him) to the next level. Otherwise he’ll be gone. Chansiri – back him or sell!”

Another supporter suggested that Rohl has been a ‘great manager’ for the Owls, but one that ‘hasn’t been supported by the owner’.

As well as being the supposed reason that fans think he is nearing the exit, one believes that it is in fact the limiting factor to him not being able to take this Sheffield Wednesday side any further, suggesting that ‘Danny has taken us as far as he can under the current ownership’.

Danny Rohl has acted brilliantly amid uncertainty surrounding Owls future

With there being little transparency surrounding whether Rohl will or won’t be at Sheffield Wednesday for the next season, it is safe to say that the German has conducted such a tricky situation in the best way possible.

For weeks, Rohl has been rather cryptic in his post-match press conferences, but it is safe to say that the writing is on the wall, and that the Sheffield Wednesday boss, who has made his ambitions clear to the owner, will most likely depart from S6. In such circumstances, Rohl has ensured that he has been full of praise for the club’s players, staff, and supporters.

Nonetheless, if he is likely to leave, he will depart with a glowing reference from every Sheffield Wednesday fan that has stepped foot into Hillsborough this season; to take the club from where it was following the short and disastrous tenure of Xisco Munoz deserves immense credit.
